Former Pentagon UFO investigator Jay Stratton claims the U.S. recovered living non-human beings from the 1947 Roswell crash [1][2].

Stratton detailed these allegations in his October 13, 2026, memoir, Out of the Shadows [1][2]. His claims add to a series of assertions by former officials that the government is concealing crashed spacecraft and non-human biologics [1].

Claims of recovered biologics

Stratton writes that an unnamed source told him a spaceship broke in two near Roswell in 1947 [1][2]. According to the memoir, military forces retrieved wreckage and non-human bodies [1][2].

Stratton notes that some occupants were allegedly alive but later died after refusing food and human contact [1][2].

He further alleges that military contractors possess at least a dozen crashed spacecraft and recovered non-human remains [1][2]. "We’re not the only intelligent life in the universe," Stratton told People [1].

Other former officials have made similar claims. David Grusch, a former National Reconnaissance Office officer, asserts the U.S. government possesses non-human technical vehicles and biological remains [1].

Official government positions

The Pentagon has consistently disputed these accounts. In March 2024, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reported it found no verifiable evidence of extraterrestrial technology or reverse-engineering programs [2].

Regarding the Roswell incident, the Air Force stated in 1994 that the debris was part of Project Mogul, a classified balloon program used to detect Soviet nuclear tests [1][2].

On September 14, the Department of Defense announced a legal waiver allowing current and former personnel to share UAP-related classified information with the White House PURSUE team [11]. The waiver does not extend to the press or the general public [11].

What we don't know

  • Can any of the recovered non-human biologics described by former officials be independently verified?
  • Who is the unnamed source providing Jay Stratton with information about the Roswell survivors?
  • Does the PURSUE team possess verifiable evidence that contradicts the 2024 AARO findings?
